Two years ago we were introduced to an extremely talented mandolin player from Belgium named Jefferson Louvat. He commissioned us to build him a custom “Big Mon” Northfield, and the first left handed instrument of its kind. Through that project a friendship flourished and those of us at the workshop have followed his musical career with much enthusiasm. When we found out he and his band, The Louvat Bros., were recording a new album this year we couldn’t wait to get our hands on it. Jefferson is known for his clean, articulate and fluid playing style. He started playing when he was just 11 years old after hearing Sam Bush’s first LP “Late as Usual”. Now 37, he’s a seasoned player showing a lot of expression and taste in his playing. The new album is fantastic and showcases his talents and his band members knack for writing very inventive ensemble arrangements and original tunes.
