Presented by The Fretboard Journal and the Old Town School of Folk Music, the Fretboard Summit is a celebration of the fretted instrument community, bringing together some of the most inspiring performers and makers in the industry. This year, we’ll have our own room and many special examples we made for the Summit, along with some new items to share, showcasing the craftsmanship and innovation that Northfield is known for.

Gateways Between the Octave Mandolin and Guitar

While the mandolin and guitar have their differences the fertile ground between them is a very interesting place to explore. Specifically, the octave mandolin enters a design space familiar to the guitarist while offering new possibilities in tone, playability, tunings, voicings, and more. Please join us for a musical conversation where the mandolin and guitar meet.

Performances at the Fretboard Summit are legendary, renowned for their surprise guests, intimate settings, and captivating main stage concerts. Each year, attendees are treated to an unforgettable experience, with some of the world's greatest players showcasing their exceptional talent.

Last year we had the privilege of recording one of our musical heroes, Howard Levy, along with virtuoso guitarist Elden Kelly, as he premiered the new Rival Archtop Guitar and Electric Octave mandolin, the EleOcto.
