Joshua Rilko

Joshua Rilko is a founding member and mandolin player for the Michigan based roots band, Lindsay Lou & the Flatbellys. His approach to the mandolin is as educated by tradition as it is eclectic and diverse, having produced and released four full length albums by the age of 26 spanning the genres of garage punk, ska, traditional bluegrass and contemporary Americana. Growing up playing music with his father and singing in choirs, Joshua has a deeply internalized sense of music. Toting a degree in Education from Michigan State University, he’s taught mandolin workshops for traditional and roots music organizations such as GLAMA and Wheatland, and currently devotes his time almost entirely to a full-time tour schedule with Lindsay Lou & the Flatbellys.

I’ve been consistently impressed with the tone, volume, and playability of my Big Mon. Its fat sound impresses listeners and other pickers alike. It easily holds its own against mandolins that are twice the price!
